Window Screens

When we moved into this house the “vents” above each window and door were un-screened. The landlord had screened the vented cinder blocks along the tops of the walls, but had failed to notice that these slats would let in just as many mosquitoes.

For two days these men worked around the house bolting mesh-covered frames to the vents. Their drill cord stretched from room to room. Every two or three feet along the length of the cord the wires were exposed for a few inches. I had to watch Ellie Jo so closely because it fascinated her. Who knows what kind of voltage was running through those wires.

Now we have a nearly mosquito-free house. We’ve been sleeping without our net and loving it. Thanks screen-men!
