A Toga Party
The combined 1st/2nd class has been studying ancient Egypt and ancient Greece. This has led to some nerve-wracking moments when the children have suddenly tried to quiz me, “Do you know who was the last Egyptian queen before the Romans conquered Egypt? Five, four, three, two…” “ummmm, Cleopatra?” “You’re right!”
On Friday the quizzing was made worthwhile when the class had a Greek celebration. The “tzatziki mom” from the last post made a huge spread of Greek food and provided every child with a toga. The children even learned some simple Greek dances.
And the teachers feasted.
