Happy Birthday, Robin!
Can you find him in this picture? Every child is waiting patiently for him to complete this daily task. The ritual of ISK elementary recess depends on getting a jump rope from Mr. Crocker. It is “only 20 minutes of joy” and cannot be fully exploited unless there are at least two groups of children dashing about with the jump ropes around their waists playing the “horsey game” and one group of girls attempting (again) to get double dutch off the ground. The enjoyment of recess is stuck in tangles between my husband’s hands.
Anyone who has known Robin for a long time probably wouldn’t associate him with a courtyard full of screaming elementary aged children. He probably wouldn’t have ever imagined himself in that place. But helping to open a brand new school requires that everyone wear some funny hats at times. And Robin is wearing the recess hat without a complaint.
Because he’s just cool like that.
Happy birthday, Mr. Recess.
