We’re down to just three weeks left in Kigali before flying back to the States for the summer. A lot has been happening at the school in the last few weeks, thus the shortage of posts. We will be returning to Rwanda in the fall, but we will not be returning to KICS. The story on that will have to be saved for personal conversations when we are stateside.
So, as part of our transition into switching continents, Robin and I have been making lists of things that we will not/will miss about Rwanda over the summer.
Will Not Miss:
-Flying termites that always come out after a rain storm
-Slippery tiles *everywhere* after rain
-Lack of central heat in the house on a cold evening
-The lack of drawers in classrooms, bedrooms, kitchens…and all other rooms
-Bumpy dirt roads
-Our tiny refrigerator
-Jet engines taking off across the valley
-Lack of quick meal options
-People *always* saying “good morning”…even at 9 o’clock at night!
-The noise of church on the other side of our compound wall
-Running out of power credit in the middle of cooking dinner
-Our roller skate car
-Quick weekend trips to Kivu
-Stopping at Ken’s for last-minute dinner items
-Our weekly flowers
-Weekly trips to Afrika Bite
-Pizza night with the house
-Chapatti and Lentils
